Södertälje has something unique... The oldest coal fired propeller driven steamer, with original engine, in the World is Ejdern of Södertälje. She was built in 1880 in Gothenburg to frequent the archipelago. Ejdern's Propulsion machinery is a Compound engine at 65 IHP, boiler of Scotch type, coal fired. S/S EJDERN is the property of Museiföreningen Ångfartyget Ejdern, which members take care of her and uses her for commercial sailing tours on the waters around Södertälje.
