Ejdern´s new generation!
Not just old people work on Ejdern. A couple of youngsters show a lot of interest in our old steamer. One of them, Maria, is engaged to be married to our young engineer Gunnar - and of course they met on Ejdern and they even changed rings at a small party we had one night. She is working on deck.
Next is a young man, Isak, who got in touch with us at the Steamer meeting that took place in Stockholm June 1998. He works both on deck and as a stoker, which he prefers. He also shows great interest in old trams in Stockholm since a couple of years.
Joakim is the second generation working on Ejdern, his father did in the 70-80s and probably `Jocke´ founded his interest when he was on board with him. He likes working on deck and as a stoker equally, still as he will do his military service starting January 2000, there won't be much time for Ejdern next summer.
Back to us oldies: Sonja is a very energetic little lady in her 70s (who could believe that!), though she is a pensioner she, her husband and brother in law (pensioners too) run nine hothouses, growing plants and cut flowers for shops. She also swims, goes on holiday by bike, hikes in the mountains, works out - and many other activities. On board she takes care of the crew and the cafeteria. Sara is in no way less active than Sonja and at about the same age. She also mountain hikes, with her husband. And she has a great cultural interest and is writing in, and takes photos for, local cultural magazines. As she lives in Stockholm she often drives her `Pink Panter´ (a pink Renault 4 1973) to Ejdern
