The experiences by
a novice on deck.

Bosse Löfgren has been on deck and helped out with the crew recruiting job a year now. He tells about his experiences and also gives some criticism.
I had may first contact with Ejdern in 1998 and thought that would be a nice thing to do when I retired. About a year ago I talked to the guys on the steamer when I bought fish from the fishing boat next to Ejdern. I had some live information and decided to become a member. At the annual meeting I volunteered as a crew recruiter, a suitable occasion to get to know the active members faster. Birgitta helped me to learn the job. And as there was a lack of deck crew I tried that to, together with experienced crewmembers as Claes and Jonte. I think I should have had more and better instructions before I jumped on the job. And I found why there always is, or should be, two on deck every time as there is almost an hour's job before you start the trip and after as well. The summer was very rewarding in spite of this and I met a lot of nice people, crew, members and passengers. A pity the weather wasn't that good. The nicest trips were the one to Stockholm and Waxholm on the Day of the White Vessels (those operating the Stockholm archipelago), Bosse Löfgrento Mariefred (a small old town at the lake Mälaren) and the trip to ancient Adelsö where there was an extremely good guide. There certainly will be more of this, and GOOD weather, next summer.
